2024-2025 Student Resource Handbook

18 Create A Schedule Create a detailed weekly schedule of household tasks like laundry and cleaning. Break cleaning up into smaller tasks like by room. So you might clean the bathroom on Wednesday and Saturday, clean the bedroom on Tuesday and Sunday, and the living room, halls and stairs every Thursday and Monday. Clean your kitchen up weekly then spend a few minutes each day on it. Stock Up On Cleaning Supplies Remember when you are making your weekly, bi- weekly, or monthly trip to the grocery store, make sure to add cleaning supplies to your list. Look for items that are on sale, such as paper towels, bleach wipes, all purpose cleanser and window spray. Using coupons is a real easy way to save. Make sure you save your fliers, or you can check online for great deals. Throw Out Your Garbage This may seem obvious, but when you are on the go sometimes you can forget this simple task. What’s not so simple about leaving garbage out is the risk of attracting bugs, especially roaches. Make it a routine to clean out all the garbage in your area, and if you live with a room mate remind them when you are doing it. You will feel better knowing your place is garbage and bug free. Relax Once your place is tidy, try to do a little bit each and every day to keep things in order. Try playing some music to help it go by fast. Make sure it stays that way. Your weekends will be free for study, lounge, or go out to a party, your choice! HOTEL EXTRAS Many people that rent hotel rooms are unaware about the many great extras that can be provided. Sometimes, you have to ask for them. Here is a helpful list of things that you can ask be added to your stay. Student Discounts You are a student, so take advantage of this fact! Everyone loves student business. Inquire about the cost of the room and if they offer any student discounts. In-Room Fridge And Microwave Ask them before you make a reservation if your room has a microwave. Most hotels also offer ice from an ice machine located in the hallway. Also a fridge is another free addition you could ask for. Parking Hotels can sometimes charge as high as $25 for parking. Ask if they can waive the fee, or, if their parking is free. Check In / Out Times Nothing is ever set in stone. Ask if you can have a later check in or out time if needed. Hotels want your business, they will most likely accommodate your schedule. Recreational Facilities Make sure you ask if there are any recreational facilities available that you may have interest in. www.rentseeker.ca • Surveillance Cameras on site / Building • Each Unit Individually Alarmed & Sprinklered • Electronically Controlled Gate • Insurance and Locks Available • Clean Safe Storage • A Size For Every Need • Moving Supplies Available www.allcity-storage.com 416-366-2489 145 EASTERN AVE AFFORDABLE CLIMATE CONTROLLED SECURE OPEN 24 / 7 INDOOR STORAGE *ANY SIZE Live In Downtown Toronto In Trendy Cabbagetown Area ...
